Schoooool, Today!

Well, actually, school began on Tuesday, but it was more like a meet and greet. Today was the first time I left Shayna somewhere for more than an hour. Here are some pictures of her classroom and locker. Because Shayna only goes to school two days a week, she shares her locker with "Shea." When I dropped her off this morning, she kissed me and said, "goodbye, mommy." No tears.... from her.... then there's me...Yep! I did it... I cried again! I'm glad that I had my sunglasses with me! After wiping my eyes in the bathroom, I headed over to the women's locker room and then up to work out in the gym. After about an hour, I left and went grocery shopping. It was so relaxing to just browse through the aisles at my own pace... what a concept!

I picked Shayna up from school and she was so excited to see me... I almost starting crying... again!!! OK... I took a sip of water and controlled myself! She would not stop talking about how much she loves her teacher and school! Phew... that's a relief! She told me all about school in 10 straight minutes. It was so cute. Then I asked her if she went to the bathroom and she told me that she told her teacher that she had to go and the teacher told her she can go by herself... so she did... she even unsnapped and snapped her own pants! She did forget to zip up her zipper... but I don't think that kids make fun of each other about that yet.

Don't tell anyone, but I can't wait til Tuesday...hehehe...

Schooooooool, Tomorrow...

Schoooooool, tomorrow... - that's what my parents used to say to tease me and my brothers the day before school started... for our ENTIRE school aged lives! So, why not carry on this horrible tradition to my child? Tomorrow, Shayna begins preschool. I am very excited because she is totally on the brink of reading. She can actually sound out words and read her books! I am so proud of her! Today was the first day that she read a complete sentence... WOW!

On Sunday, my parents drove down here to join us at the Aquarium of the Pacific. My dad made a new friend, a Lorikeet. That bird loved sitting on his hat! Shayna also made a new friend... a playful sea lion! The trick with the sea lion is to hold a coin up to the glass. I think that they are hoping it's food... maybe??? It makes for a cute picture, though!

Also... I saw this sign at the Costco gas station the other day and had to post it! It's hilarious! I just love the "see-thru" mini-skirt, and her (or his-you never can tell, these days...) lack of feet and face!

Look Out, Tiger!

I know it's taken me a while to post this, but I am once again sick! I have never been sick so many times in one year! Oh well, gotta get through it!

Shayna just about loves anything where you can kick, hit, throw, or putt a ball, so I bought her this cheesy golf set. She loves to putt, I mean, smack the ball around the yard, in preparation for the women's U.S. Open Championships. This golf set was so cheap, that we had to replace the
holes with a plastic cup from Island's Restaurant!

We had an awesome Father's Day on Sunday. Mark decided that he wanted to go to the Santa Ana Zoo. So we drove to Santa Ana and spent the morning checking out some wildlife.

Here's a cute picture of the two!

We had an awesome time at the zoo and I hope Mark had a wonderful Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day, Mark

The Best Man I Ever Knew

When we married, I saw you as perfect,
The ideal husband and more;
I thought I knew all about you,
All the things to love and adore.

But when you became a father,
I saw new qualities to treasure.
You enrich all our lives in fresh ways;
As a dad, you bring so much pleasure.

Our child is forever blessed
To have a father like you,
And I love you more than ever,
You’re the best man I ever knew.

By Joanna Fuchs

I also would like to wish my father-in-law, Art and my dad, Alan, a very happy Father's Day, as well! Love you both very much!!!

Vegas Vacation...

I found some cheap airfare about a month ago that would allow Shayna & I to travel to Henderson to visit my brothers and uncle! I called my sister-in-law and she booked a room at Chateau Oleesky. It was great! Shayna loved riding on the plane! She got her own seat, next to the window. My brother picked us up at the airport and we headed over to his house, where he, had a BBQ planned. It was great to see everyone!

Shayna had a blast playing with her cousins, Annie and Pinkie! Tamara took us to a park by their house on Tuesday so the girls could get some play time. This park had a completely covered play
area and water features to run through.

We also had fun with my triplet nephews, Gage, Colin & Alec. Here's a shot of the 3 boys in Tamara's mom's suitcase, as she tried to sneak home with them... nice try!

Picnic at the Nature Center

So, I got the nerve up to put Shayna in her seat on the back of my bike. The bike is very wobbly so it's very important that I stay focused while pedaling, which is sometimes difficult because she likes to grab my butt and backpack....sooo, we headed, cautiously, to the Nature Center for a nice picnic lunch. On the 1/4 mile trail, we viewed some interesting insects (I guess it's still Spring and love is in the air) and some lovely white flowers. Not too sure what kind of flower it is, but they were gorgeous!

We also enjoyed spying the turtles basking in the sun.
Shayna just loved the baby turtle hanging out on it's mommy's back!

Here are some cute pictures from last weekend when we took Shayna to the local equestrian center for some horseback riding
